Omega's Ramblings Time for a new issue already? Well, as you can see the 2 part split-up is pretty much permanent. Just as the Change from Digested Digest was to Weekly Stuff E-Zine. You can ever go back to the original way, in fact I wouldn't want to. I occasionally look back at the old issues to see how I managed, but you can't ever go back to those old issues format. It just won't work. I don't anticipate any more change in the near, cross-your-fingers, because change can be a bad thing if you do it to much. Just ask MixxZine, they'll tell you. Actually they won't. MixxZine is now one of those notorious sites for BS and Double-talk. So turn to the Eye On Mixx page for your Mixx news. Though I in NO WAY approve of their methods (take a hint, listen to what the Sailor Moon SOS, did to get the 17 new episodes), they are at least trying. Check out there site if you get a chance: http://eyeonmixx.anime-manga.net/ Let's see the Anime portion of WSE features Parts 5 AND 6 of Pioneer's Evolution, so you can read the conclusion (for now) of The History of Pioneer Anime a week early. And be sure to check out the corrected versions of Parts 1-6 at The Unofficial History of Pioneer Anime, and it also has a complete release guide, product scans, and tons of pictures and info not even seen in the articles. http://members.tripod.com/~kishin_corps/ Also I wanna give a plug to The Circle of Friends Mailing List because we are finally getting the story started after so long. Why don't you check out what we have so far, and see if you wanna join. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/ablarnold/cronix.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.) Millenium's Season 3 - aka The X-Files "Next Gen" If you haven't been watching Millenium these last few weeks, you might not know that things have changed......toward a VERY familiar venue. So---is this Millenium? Or is it X- Files? It's kind of hard to tell these days... Some examples: About Frank's new "partner", Agent Emma Hollis, FBI: she's an incredible blend of both Mulder and Scully---driven, but grounded; sympathetic, yet practical; both impetuous and cautious. In a word? Wow. I like this character. And Klea Scott is likely to give our beloved GA a run for best actress nods. The 2-part season opener was full of XF likenesses: Our newest FBI agent also has an ankle holster...and see if Frank at the shooting range reminds you of a certain XF ep...and most obviously, the plot. I saw bits and pieces of at least 4 different XF eps involving cloning, abandoned missile silos, Emily, and more---the remote viewing aspect? That was one of the XF comic books. Did I mention that all of this imitation works? It does. In spades. Flattery or desperation? Who cares? I like. Similarities in last week's ep---an absolutely riveting piece of work, btw---wasn't quite as obvious as tonight's. Emma's dead sister? Melissa. Loved the graveyard scene right out of Apocrypha. They didn't have to do this---they were already preaching to a convert. I've watched since "the beginning". I liked Season One, and Two was weird with Morgan & Wong helming, but still o.k.---but this? This I love. Millenium is a mirror of human nature---something I find fascinating. I've got XF for aliens, beasties, and clones. I like Millenium in that it's different. Which is my point---this season of Millenium is now even less "different" from Sunday night. That's a good thing, btw. Millenium is---and always has been---incredibly well-written, directed, and acted. Content is probably its only drawback for some---this isn't for the faint of heart. (Last week's opening teaser is one example.) But if you haven't been watching---and you like XF---you just might want to take another look. Friday's at 9. Rings a bell, doesn't it? ~ By Olivia , of The X-Files Mailing List ------------------------------------------------------------------ 4.) The X-Files Tibits ++Picking up where last season's cliffhanger and the feature film left off, The X-Files opens its sixth season on Fox on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) . ++Gibson Praise, the young chess prodigy from last season's final episode, is in trouble again and FBI agent Diana Fowley (Mimi Rogers) tries to protect him, while the partnership of Mulder and Scully is threatened. ++On the Nov. 15 episode, Mulder is trapped in a car by a man who seems to be deranged, while Scully races to determine if the man is suffering from a deadly illness. DRIVE - "The episode begins with a car chase. A guy is trying to get away from the police with his wife who appears VERY ILL. At the end of the opening...her head explodes. Mulder and Scully see the story on the news, and of course want to investigate. Scully figures out that the exploding heads are caused by government testing. She figures out a way to save the man who's wife died. Somehow Mulder and the guy end up in a car together. As soon as Mulder slows down, the guy's head will explode! (The faster you drive, the better you get from your symptoms, and when you slow down is when the problems start.) Scully calls Mulder and tells him to meet her so she can cure the guy. At the end, Scully is waiting for Mulder with a syringe when the car pulls up. She's heading to the door to do whatever it is she does to save the guy, when she sees blood splattered all over the window...oops, too late. It sounds kind of greusome for an X-File, but unless the ep gets re-written, that's the basic summary. Vince Gilligan originally planned for the beginning to take place on a tilt-a-whirl at a fair, don't ask me why he changed it." --- Jim Patterson ++The Nov. 22 episode is written and directed by creator and executive producer Chris Carter in a widescreen format. The episode finds Mulder in the middle of a bizarre conflict on a mysterious ship in the Bermuda Triangle. In an homage to The Wizard of Oz, Mulder journeys back into time where he sees familiar faces. --- Shasta1013@aol.com ++The eighth episode of season six is written and directed by creator Chris Carter and is called "THE GHOSTS THAT STOLE CHRISTMAS", it only has four characters in it, Mulder, Scully and the two guest stars, Ed Asner and Lily Tomlin (probably playing "the ghosts"). ++Episode Nine "It's no longer a two parter and it no longer has Skinner extex /ec(no names if this is posted anywhere)" --- ECPROR8@aol.com +++If you have a Real Video player, you can watch the entire GA/DD vs MIB clip from "Celebrity Deathmatch". You might be a Redneck Jedi if... Rednecks are not limited to Earth. They exist all across the galaxy, in many different forms. One example is Luke Skywalker, who must have been a Redneck because he fell in love with his sister, Leia. But surely he is not the only Jedi to be a Redneck. So if you suspect the local Jedi of being a Redneck, here's a few ways to tell. You might be a Redneck Jedi if... 1.) Your Jedi robe is a camouflage color. 2.) Note: He says this is from a site on the internet somewhere, anyone know where? ------------------------------------------------------------------ 6.) Diamond Prez Buys Majority of Ailing 'MANIA' Parent In the first official confirmation that the parent company of the Mania online magazine was in financial trouble, this week the president of the comic book distribution superpower announced he was personally buying a majority stake in AnotherUniverse.com. "For a number of years, Steve Milo's AnotherUniverse.com has been [Diamond Comic Distributor's] largest customer, and he's sold a tremendous amount of product on behalf of our suppliers," Diamond president Steve Geppi stated in a press release at the Diamond Web site (http://www.diamondcomics.com/). "Steve's pursued an aggressive Internet growth strategy, and done a good job of building online business, but his plans required outside financing which, unfortunately, didn't materialize to the level of his needs due to the recent troubles in the capital markets. … In an effort to preserve AnotherUniverse.com's volume and prevent a sizable set-back to our industry - which is just now showing signs of recovery - I have decided to invest my own personal equity in the company." AnotherUniverse.com - which was known as American Entertainment until earlier this year - is one of the largest retailers of comics and genre-related merchandise, selling more than $17 million worth in 1997. In addition to the Mania.com magazine and online store, the company operates the chain of Another Universe stores in the Baltimore-Washington area and has a mail order business. Rumors of the company's ill health surfaced this fall after Mania's editor told contributors to stop working. The decision was quickly reversed, but not before rumors of the announcement leaked out. Although AnotherUniverse.com president Milo downplayed the reports, along with rumors that the company had failed to pick up all of its comics that week from Diamond, Geppi's announcement seems to indicate the rumors were substantially true: "Without this capital, AnotherUniverse.com was in a position where it could not continue to meet its purchasing obligations to Diamond," the announcement read in part. AnotherUniverse.com will operate independently of Diamond and founder Steve Milo will remain as the company's president, guiding its day-to-day operations. "This wasn't an easy decision," Geppi said, "As I didn't plan to be involved with selling products to consumers online. However … I realized that the site's primary objective is to create new customers by exposing pop culture fans to our industry's most mainstream offerings. I think the site can be a tremendous tool for growing the entire industry." http://www.comicbookresources.com/comicwire/ ------------------------------------------------------------------ 7.) And who are the Supermen of America? A group of some of the most cynical, jaded youths to ever slack off in Metropolis, who have become so inspired by the Man of Steel's efforts that they have united to follow his example, fighting crime, organizing other Metropolis youths into roving patrols and protecting the city from the ravages of crime. But there's another factor in their decision to take to the streets, a shocking crime that strikes at the very hearts of these otherwise disaffected and disenfranchised young people. 64 pages, $4.95, ships on Jan. 13. +DOCTOR MID-NITE #1 - Written by Matt Wagner; painted art and cover by John K. Meet Finster, a kid who loves comics so much that he even dreams 4-color adventures co-starring him and his favorite heroes. As rendered by Aragones, Finster's life is anything but ordinary, especially in his dreams, where he fights alien bikers alongside (Jerry Ordway's) Superman, flees (Bernie Wrightson's) comic-book zombies, and wins the girl of his dreams (drawn by the Elseworld's Finest team of Matt Haley and Tom Simmons). But how will all these fantasies help Finster get through the everyday challenges of his so-called life? 32 pages, $2.50, ships on Jan. 20. +TITANS #1 - Written by Devin K. He's also coloring the upcoming STARS AND STRIPES. +Thunder isn't getting a modified costume, just a belt and ring. +Inferno will be briefly mentioned in December's DCU HEROES SECRET FILES. +Tom says new villains will "shake up the galaxy, and it won't be the same afterwards." Several UP worlds will be affected. +The "Anywhere Machine," as named by Tom Peyer, will help Zoe's condition. +The Legion's appearance on the SUPERMAN cartoon is the only one planned so far. Melissa Joan Hart will be the voice of Saturn Girl; Tom was told who would voice Cosmic Boy and Chameleon Boy [sic] but forgot their names. He says they aren't major actors. Other Legionnaires will make cameos in background shots (similar to the climactic scene in the SUPERMAN episode "Apokolips Now!" when several New Gods make brief appearances). Jeff wouldn't count on a Kinetix cameo. Tom noted that while the Legion's first comics appearance featured miscolored mystery Legionnaires, that couldn't be the case here, since the animators aren't using the 'real' color schemes anyway. - -- Alex Tam goldie@intergate.bc.ca; Nachro2 on AOL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 20.)
