Born in the 25th century, Michael Jon "Booster" Carter was a college football star. At the height of his career, he was caught betting on college games, including those he played in. He was disgraced and expelled.

Carter studied heroes of the 20th century in the space Museum (see Space Museum) in Metropolis and decided that it was the century he belonged in. With aid of a security robot named Skeets, Carter stole a Legion of Super-Heroes flight ring (see LSH) and various other items to create his costume. Using a time machine built by Rip Hunter (see Rip Hunter, revised), Carter journeyed back through time to 1985.

Carter folled a plan by Chiller and The 1000 (see individual listings) to assassinate President George Bush, gaining immediate notoriety.

Taking the name Booster Gold, Carter cashed in on his fame while battling the 1000. His endorsements of products and commercial ambitions were met with disdain by other heroes.

When Carter found his powers fading, he returned to the future in a prototype time machine built by Rip Hunter. He found himself a hunted criminal in 2462 A.D. and faced execution. But a rescue by Rip Hunter, Jack Soo, Trixie Collins, and his own sister Michelle enabled him to return to 1987, where he currently carries on his super-hero career, very much in the public eye.

The original Goldstar Inc. recently gave way to Booster Gold International (BGI), located in a refurbished mansion. In addition to handling Booster's endorsements, BGI handles research and development, trying to rival Kord Inc. and S.T.A.R. Labs (see Blue Beetle II, S.T.A.R. Labs). Currently BGI is out of bankrupt.

Note: During Booster's Fight woth DOOMSDAY his costume was distroyed and Blue Beetle II built him a new suit. At one point in time Booster was to be the next step in human evolution...but because of Zero Hour things are not as they were.

With the equipment he stole from the Space Museum, Booster Gold is able to move objects with "mass dispersal force." His "absorbing field" enables him to absorbe energy. The Legion ring enables him to fly and his infra-red goggles also have enlargement lenses. He is able to shoot energy blasts at his foes, though use of these blasts are what originally depleted his powers.

Skeets is a multi-purpose security robot, able to fly, assimilate information and fire energy blasts able to incapacitate an individual.
